#Gran turismo 6 tuning full#
What this means is that each car can be subject to a specific race circuit’s conditions (including gradients, surface bumps and more) all while remaining completely stationary on the 7-post rig! You can find full details by clicking the following link: ‘At the chassis, three solid attachment points have to be created for the three additional hydraulic cylinders which supply lateral inclination, downthrust and other car body movements during the test run.’ ‘First of all, data has to be collected at the race track which is then evaluated at the test stand’ explains Head of Motorsport Sales, Michael Grassl. Located at KW Germany in Fichtenberg, Germany, the 7-post rig is the ultimate tool for setting up race (or road cars) for specific tracks and driving.

In the latest title to join this series – Gran Turismo 6 – this aspect is taken even further thanks to the inclusion of KW’s 7-post tuning rig.
#Gran turismo 6 tuning upgrade#
Unlike rival games, this isn’t just limited to visual upgrade – from gear ratios and differential speed right through to suspension damping and aerodynamics, Gran Turismo allows proper tuning to suit individual cars and tracks when chasing the ultimate lap time. One of Gran Turismo’s most-popular features is the car tuning and customisation. It’s a game played by millions worldwide, and KW Automotive is hugely excited to be a part of the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 title! You may have to tune a car up a grade if you're short on credits or haven't yet earned a variety of gift cars.In the world of virtual racing games they don’t get much better than Gran Turismo! Since 1997 Polyphone Digital has set the standard with the Gran Turismo series, combining hundreds of high-performance manufacture cars with some of the world’s best race circuits including Monza, Spa Francorchamps and of course the Nurburgring. Ergo, tuning a car up a grade is generally not as efficient as outright buying a new car at the grade you're intending to run the race, or at least tuning down a more powerful car. Unlike some previous iterations of the franchise, you cannot buy new parts to upgrade your cars. In other words, a vehicle's "factory parts" are better designed to run at the grade it defaults to. In an even race with equal drivers, the Corvette Stingray would likely edge out the Genesis just because it's more aerodynamic and turns tighter, two factors which cannot be "tuned out" of a car. While the Genesis has a higher output in terms of raw horsepower, its transmission is weaker (thus requiring longer acceleration to achieve the same speed) and it's 10% heavier than the Corvette Stingray. Compare both vehicles power output and weight in the screenshots below. For example, while a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 can be tuned upward from its default N300 to an N400, the Genesis Coupe still has weaker brakes and a wider turn radius than, for example, the aforementioned Corvette Stingray C7 tuned downward from N500 to N400. Tuning a car upward to increase its grade might be counterproductive, and you won't know this unless you test out several vehicles in Time Trial. The rest of the options, including weight reduction, may be changed as you see fit and it won't affect the grade. Note that power output is the only thing that matters regarding a car grade. GT-6 is a 3 Band EQ with built-in highly accurate chromatic tuner. If this vehicle were to be taken into an N500 race, its power should be set to 119% to maximize its chance of victory. For example, the Corvette Stingray C7 in these screenshots defaults to an N500 grade, but it achieves this anywhere from 98% to 119% power output. They also can usually be tuned to maximize their power in the same grade.

In this way, you can use your favorite car in a race that it might not qualify for. N-designated cars can generally be tuned for a couple grades higher or lower than their factory settings. If you're trying to tune a car for a specific race, you'll want to keep your eyes on this number. This second indication is important because it updates in real time when you're adjusting the power ratio of the current car. There is also a pane on the left side of the tuning screen that shows the car's grade with the setup you're currently editing.

Across the top of the screen you'll see a pane with your current car and its grade with its current setup. Please observe the following screenshots.
